A Traditional Fair – Bendigo Gala Parade

This weekend Bendigo hosts the annual Bendigo Easter Festival with events starting Good Friday. There will be multiple events staged in the city centre during the three day festival including bands, art and woodturning exhibitions, markets, performances in the parks, a torchlight procession and fireworks on Saturday and culminating on Sunday with the 145th Bendigo Gala Parade, which makes it the longest running festival in Australia. Police have today appealed for public assistance in the disappearance of Ballarat woman Dianne Stevens. Dianne has not been seen since leaving her Brown Hill home on the morning of Friday November 6. Moonlight Market

A Moonlight Market was held in the Hargraves Mall from 5-9pm on Saturday November 21. The market was well patronised and there were long queues for food stalls. Some of the speciality food vans had come from Federation Square in Melbourne.  There were also ice-cream stands. Man Accuses Police of Planting Evidence

A Maiden Gully man appeared in the Bendigo Magistrates Court today on drugs and firearms charges. Wade Deverest, 24, of Belac Street, Maiden Gully, was arrested five weeks ago and charged with possession of an unregistered firearm and 28 grams of amphetamines. Ice Found During Routine Traffic Stop

Three people were arrested when police pulled over a car in Flora Hill early Tuesday morning. Twenty-five grams of the drug ‘Ice’ was found, along with a machete and a baseball bat, when the car was searched. Mayor Cox to Stand Down

Bendigo Mayor Peter Cox has announced he will stand down as Mayor in November. The Councillor said the decision was based on tradition.
